Graduate or Experienced IT Forensic Analyst (Social Media & Internet).

You will join the new Social Media & Internet Law Legal team whose principal function is to provide comprehensive commercial legal advice to the private individuals & wider business, ensuring the delivery of efficient, effective & commercially minded legal solutions surrounding all things social media and internet law.
Because this is a new department it will allow you to stand out & adviseon technical matters from the outset.You will work alongside an experienced & motivated team.
Role / Duties
Working as the IT technical forensic back-up to the department to interrogate, report provide expert advice including presenting findings to court to support cases.
This role will suit either a recent graduate, someone looking to move into IT Forensic Analysis from IT support or someone working in this capacity already. Training will be provided if needed should you not have Forensics experience already.
Duties & tasks to be performed include, but are not limited to:
Event analysis & triage (gathering information, deriving conclusions, driving mitigations)
Incident handling (guiding customers, directing resources through response)
Forensic analysis (analysis of incidents)
Preparing Documentation for court
Maintaining IT technical proficiency in the use of tools, techniques & countermeasures.
Maintaining professional knowledge of trends in IT, computer & network vulnerabilities & exploits
Using forensic methods & specialist computer programs to:
Find, recover & copy data from disks that may have been hidden, encrypted or damaged
reveal digital images that have been altered to mask the identity of a place or person
analyse mobile phone records to trace devices to a particular location
follow electronic data trails to uncover links between individuals or groups
carefully document each stage of your investigation
present technical findings to clients
go to court to give evidence as a technical or expert witness.
office-based, but you’ll also meet with colleagues & other agencies working on a case.
Experience: (Training will be provided if a junior applicant).
Excellent IT skills (PC, Windows 10, Windows Server, Mobile etc.)
Creative approach to solving problems.
Attention to detail & a methodical approach to work.
Can spot trends & patterns in large amounts of data.
Ideally you will have a forensic computing qualification (or similar) from University or equivalent commercial experience & / or industry recognised IT forensic qualifications / certification.
Computer security concepts & best practices.
Understanding of Networking, system administration & security best practices.
Understanding of Windows / Unix/Linux operating systems.
Analysing & investigating Malware.
Conducting data analysis.
Graduate entry level: £23,000 - £25,000 subject to experience.
Experienced: £25,000 - £30,000 subject to experience.
Career path & progression: With experience, you could progress to senior analyst or into a in a broader security consultancy role, acting as a cyber security consultant to companies & organisations.
