Location: Exeter - Commutable from Plymouth, Yeovil, Taunton

Duration: Permanent Post

Salary: Salary £33kpa - #35kpa on appointment rising to £37,000 plus bens


This is an exciting opportunity for you to be at the forefront of a large-scale digital transformation. The client is radically transforming the way they operate with its technology to enable them to fully embrace data driven decision making.


As part of the IT department, you will be working on projects that make a real difference to the community. You will be ensuring that the data sets underpinning the transformation of the end user experience translates to usable information to help them ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the community.


Working within the Information & Data Exploitation Architectural Services function, you will lead a team to establish and maintain recommended practices for architectural data services which hold and provide key corporate data sets.


You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining best practice in data management of key data services in ways that align with strategic service aims, sharing knowledge and explaining rationale to service staff, ensuring that the data and information they hold can transform the way they work.


The role underpins the data in Information Assets, and will work closely with IT colleagues, Information Asset Owners and the Information Assurance team to deliver the data to underpin the Information Usage Revolution that is central to their strategy.


Skills needed - demonstrable experience of:-


  • Working effectively at a practitioner level within a data management function.

  • Management of enterprise data systems.

  • Use and management of both structured and geospatial data

  • Managing work and people within a Service Level Agreement framework, including designing and managing operating level agreements

  • Both relational and non-relational database technologies and their management.

  • Data model design from storage to utilisation.

  • Design, development and ongoing management of data systems

  • Managing key data within linked systems, ideally where the data is predominantly geographically based

  • Systems-thinking based approach to reconciling different datasets ostensibly covering the same business processes.

  • Exposure to User Centric design approaches ideally using Agile techniques a plus
